Mariela Vázquez, PharmD, ABAAHP, is a pharmacist with over 10 years of experience in compounding pharmacy.  She has experience in community pharmacy, pharmacy management, academia, consulting services, and is currently the president and owner of Marie Compounding Pharmacy in Dorado, Puerto Rico.  Dr. Vázquez is one of the very few pharmacists in Puerto Rico certified by the American Anti-Aging Academy (A4M) as an Anti-Aging Health Practitioner (ABAAHP).  She has specialized in compounding pharmacy, having completed two important certifications: the Modern Pharmaceutical Compounding Certification, issued by Fagron Academy, and Achieving Best Practices: Sterile Compounding Certification, issued by Medisca.  Additionally, Dr. Vázquez has completed several specialized courses in the extemporaneous preparation of therapeutic products for dermatologic conditions, pain management, and women’s health.  She is certified by the American Pharmacist Association (APhA) as an Immunizing Pharmacist, and Medication Therapy Management Provider, and has completed APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Point of Care Testing Certificate Program and the Pharmacist & Patient-Centered Diabetes Care Certificate Training program.  Dr. Vázquez is an active member of the American Anti-Aging Academy (A4M), and the Puerto Rico College of Pharmacists, in which she has occupied leadership positions as a member of the Board of Directors. She has been recognized by the Puerto Rico College of Pharmacists as Young Distinguished Pharmacist (2016) and by Betances Wholesaler as Compounding Pharmacy of the Year (2023).

Marie Compounding Pharmacy is centrally and conveniently located in Dorado, PR.  With a separate room dedicated for compounding services, and trained personnel, it is the main compounding pharmacy in the north region of Puerto Rico serving the whole island.  Although any kind of non-sterile extemporaneous preparation can be prepared in the pharmacy, Marie Compounding Pharmacy specializes in the preparation of non-sterile compounding products for several prevalent disease states, such as:

• Dermatologic conditions such as acne, eczema, melasma.

• Pain management topical and transdermal preparations.

• Women’s health products, such as bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

• Extemporaneous preparations for pediatric patients.

Marie Compounding Pharmacy meets all the standards and quality requirements for the extemporaneous preparation of non-sterile products (USP General Chapter 795), including management of hazardous drugs (USP General Chapter 800).  A new area is being developed to also provide compounding services of sterile preparations (USP General Chapter 797).
